Cross-Contamination of Waste Streams

Physically co-mingling standard construction and demolition (C&D) debris with unrecognized hazardous materials, such as lead-based paint, asbestos, mercury switches, or PCB-laden ballasts, creates severe regulatory liability. Contractors providing site testing, sorting, mapping, or consulting services assume significant professional liability. Misclassifying hazardous material as non-hazardous municipal solid waste and shipping it to a standard Class III landfill exposes the contractor to legal and financial liability for regulatory penalties and landfill cleanup costs once the violation is discovered.

Blackwater, Sewage, and Pathogen Exposure

Debris removal following floods, hurricanes, or infrastructure failures frequently involves handling materials mixed with sewage.
